Stebbins Residence

The Stebbins asked us to design a family room in their basement. It was also to be a library, for books and an extensive LP collection, as well as place to display art, and a room for the TV and hi-fi system.

We eventually arrived at a solution which included wrapping two walls with a shelving system that would accommodate different objects of different sizes. In the opposing wall we designed a wooden screen, opening up the basement to the adjacent stair. For the floor, the Stebbins chose a warm colored cork that complements the maple millwork.
