Ballard Residence

The owners of this house wanted to expand their second floor apartment into the unfinished attic. The new space was to include the master bedroom, master bath and an office area.

In the design, the floors were connected with a linear stair, which also served to bring light down into the center of the second floor. The stair also divides the bedroom and study area, which are nevertheless open to each other. New skylights bring ample light into all of these spaces.
